UPSC Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2023 recruitment:

The Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2023 is an exam for the recruitment of 341 candidates. The vacancy breakdown by training institute is as follows:

  • Indian Military Academy, Dehradun: 100 vacancies
  • Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala: 22 vacancies
  • Air Force Academy, Hyderabad: 32 vacancies
  • Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai (Madras): 170 vacancies
  • Officers Training Academy, Chennai (Madras): 17 vacancies

Eligibility Criteria for the UPSC CDS Examination:

  • Nationality:

    • Candidates must be unmarried and must be either a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or certain East African countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.
    • A candidate belonging to categories (ii) and (iii) above must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India, except for Gorkha subjects of Nepal.
  • Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status:

    • Indian Military Academy (IMA): Unmarried male candidates who were born between 2nd January, 2000 and 1st January, 2005 are eligible.
    • Indian Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates who were born between 2nd January, 2000 and 1st January, 2005 are eligible.
    • Air Force Academy: Male candidates who were born between 2nd January, 2000 and 1st January, 2004, and female candidates who were born between 2nd January, 1999 and 1st January, 2005 are eligible. Male candidates who hold a valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by the DGCA (India) may be up to 26 years of age.
    • Officers' Training Academy (SSC Course for men): Unmarried male candidates who were born between 2nd January, 1999 and 1st January, 2005 are eligible.
    • Officers' Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical Course): Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried, and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried, who were born between 2nd January, 1999 and 1st January, 2005 are eligible.
  • Educational Qualification:

    • Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officers' Training Academy, Chennai: A degree from a recognized university or equivalent.
    • Indian Naval Academy: A degree in Engineering from a recognized university/institution.
    • Air Force Academy: A degree from a recognized university with Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level, or a Bachelor of Engineering.
  • Application Fee:

    • The application fee for candidates in the "Others" category is Rs. 200/-.
    • The application fee is waived for female, SC, and ST candidates.
    • The payment can be made in cash at any branch of SBI, through SBI's net banking facility, or by using a Visa/Master/Rupay Credit/Debit Card.
